John Baron MP

for Billericay and District

Billericay and District

The constituency is made up of Billericay, Wickford, Pitsea and Laindon towns, together with the surrounding smaller towns and villages, which are interspersed by Greenbelt and farming land.

The whole constituency is covered by Basildon District Council and Essex County Council.

From the evidence of settlements in the Bronze and Iron Age through to the shooting down of a German Zeppelin in World War One, Billericay and District has a rich and colourful history. One of the most notable periods involved the Pilgrim Fathers.

Many came from the area, including Christopher Martin – one of the leaders onboard the Mayflower, which set sail for the New World. The town of Billerica, Massachusetts, United States is a testament to this fact.
